82nd Oscar Nominnation 2010 Announcement

Oscar Nominnation 2010 Announcement were revealed in Los Angeles this Tuesday morning around 5:30 a.m. Febrauary 2, 2010. The announcement was held at the academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, with last year's lead actress nominee Anne Hathaway helping Oscar president Tom Sherak with the announcements.

James Cameron's Avatar, the highest grossing film of all time and the winner of two Golden Globes, is a near-certainty for awards in the technical categories while The Hurt Locker, Up In The Air and Precious: Based on the novel Push by Sapphire were unsurprisingly shortlisted in multiple categories.

The nominations made pleasant reading for British actors and filmmakers with Colin Firth up for the best actor Oscar for A Single Man. Rising star Carey Mulligan is nominated for the best actress Oscar alongside Dame Helen Mirren for The Last Station while there are also nominations in the best adapted screenplay category for the writers of In the Loop and An Education.

The 2010 Oscars will be presented on March 7th at Los Angeles' Kodak Theatre.
